Hey, we’re Stanford O-Tone!
Looking for a campus group that feels like home? Interested in East Asian and Asian American music? Then, audition for O-Tone, Stanford’s all-gender East Asian Interest a cappella group! We perform songs from all genres by East Asian and Asian American artists, and no language or singing experience is required.
We welcome people from all cultures and backgrounds, and whether you’re a curious freshman or a grad student looking for a creative break, we’d love to hear your voice! As a student led organization, our members play integral roles in arranging all of our music and sharing it with as many communities as we can.

Scales, pitch matching, and rhythm exercises
No prior music or language experience needed!

Nope! We’re open to all skill levels. Whether you’ve been singing for years or are just starting, we’d love to hear your voice!

We perform a wide range of songs across genres, primarily featuring music by East Asian and Asian American artists. You’ll hear us sing everything from pop to traditional—NewJeans to Laufey!

Not at all! While we sing in multiple languages, we teach all the pronunciations during rehearsals, so no prior experience with other languages is required.

Yes! Reading music is not a requirement. We’ll guide you through everything you need to know, and we learn a lot of our music by ear during rehearsals.

You’ll need to prepare a 1–2 minute solo of any song you like. Pick something that showcases your voice, and don’t stress about making it perfect. We’ll also walk you through some simple musical exercises during the audition.

We usually have two full-group rehearsals and two sectional rehearsals every week, with additional practices as needed for performances!

We perform at a variety of events throughout the year, both on and off-campus! We have a Fall Show and a Spring Show every year. In the past, we’ve performed at venues (i.e. Apple, Santana Row, Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival, and Taiwanese American Cultural Festival in San Francisco’s Union Square to name a few. There are always exciting performance opportunities!

Yes! Next winter, we’re planning to participate in the ICCA (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella) for the first time. We’re excited to showcase our talent and see how we stack up against other collegiate a cappella groups!
